PEFA Secretariat welcomes the Luxembourg Delegation During the WB-IMF Spring Meetings 2022The PEFA Secretariat welcomed the Luxembourg delegation, led by Arsene Jacobi, Director of Multilateral Affairs and Development Aid at the Ministry of Finance, Luxembourg and Christina Bianchessi, Advisor to the WB Executive Director.

 

PEFA Training in DjiboutiThe first in-person PEFA training after COVID-19 took place in the People's Palace of Djibouti and was attended by nearly 40 professionals from the budgetary and financial administrations, the Court of Auditors, the General State Inspectorate and other public establishments. The training was led by Helene Magnier, PEFA Secretariat, with the support of the WB Team and Practice Manager- Jens Kristensen.

New Joint PEFA-ACCA Blog on Rethinking Public Financial Management: In this blog, the authors reflect on improvements governments need to make to ensure their PFM systems are flexible and resilient enough to deliver effectively in the future.

 

Mainstreaming Public Participation into Climate Budgeting: PEFA is pleased to launch a new PEFA Research series paper that explores the role of public participation in climate budgeting in Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Nepal. This preliminary analysis finds scope for improvement in meeting the Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency’s Principles of Public Participation and also identifies additional data and research needed to fill the gap in understanding the citizen needs and forms of participation in the context of climate budgeting.

Publication of the PEFA 2021 Agile Greenland Assessment

The PEFA 2021 Agile Assessment for Greenland, let by the Government and financed by the European Union is the second PEFA Report for Greenland. The analysis shows a clear improvement in 19 indicators, among them: forecast of revenue, comprehensiveness of information included in budget documentation, improved consolidation of fiscal data across government, fiscal risk oversight, and others.

Publication of the PEFA 2021 Belgium Capital Brussels Region Sub-National and Gender Responsive PFM Assessments

This report was funded by the EU Structural Reform Support Program and implemented in cooperation with the European Commission. It includes a Gender Responsive PFM Assessment. The report was  undertaken in cooperation with the government of the  Brussels-Capital Region.

Publication of the PEFA 2021 Niue Assessment

The second PEFA assessment for Niue, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB),  aims to benchmark PFM systems in Niue against international good practice. The report  shows improvement in several areas of performance, e.g.,  project expenditures funded by development partners are better reflected in the budget estimates, greater clarity in the budget calendar, tighter arrangements for tax collections, and improved management of suspense accounts.

Publication of the PEFA 2022 Botswana Gender-Responsive PFM Assessment

The first PEFA Botswana Gender Responsive PFM Report is a self-assessment funded by the Government of Botswana. The assessment shows the progress that remains to be made in making sure that the PFM system can assist in the budgeting for implementation of and reporting on programs that affect gender equality in the country.

Mme Barry Aoua Sylla, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mali, shares her experience of undertaking a PEFA assessment in the country.
