PEFA Secretariat delivered a one-day training session as a side event to the 7th Montreux Collaborative Meeting on Fiscal Space, Public Financial Management and Health Financing, a forum hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) which took place on December 1–5 in WHO Geneva, Switzerland.
The Montreux Collaborative is a platform for collaboration between countries and development partners with the aim of generating and disseminating global and country evidence on how to make budgets work for health.
PEFA Secretariat contributed to two technical sessions in addition to conducting a full day PEFA training for Health PFM professionals.
The training was inaugurated by Serdar Yilmaz, Practice Manager, World Bank and Helene Barroy, Senior Public Finance Expert, WHO. It was delivered by Srinivas Gurazada, Head PEFA Secretariat, Jean-Philippe Vion Senior Public Sector Specialist, and Ashikur Rahman Governance Specialist.
“This training was a great opportunity to engage with practitioners, exchange experiences, and contribute to strengthening PFM practices in the health sector,” noted Jean-Philippe Vion.

Participants included many representatives from Ministries of Health in Africa and Asia. Questions focused on the PEFA Frameworks, including the Climate and Gender Supplementary Frameworks, as well as on past and upcoming PEFA assessments in participants’ home countries. The training was also an opportunity to introduce PEFA’s service delivery module, an initiative designed to further PEFA’s relevance in sectoral PFM assessments.
