PEFA Secretariat held a PEFA Flagship training in Washington, D.C., from April 28 to 30, 2025. The event was timed to facilitate the participation of many Public Financial Management (PFM) experts who were delegation members of the World Bank/IMF Spring meetings of April 2025, as well as to accommodate Washington-based PFM experts. It also provided a great occasion to launch PEFA’s 25th anniversary festivities with members of the PFM community from all over the world.

The training was introduced and facilitated by Srinivas Gurazada, head of PEFA Secretariat, along with Senior PFM Specialists Antonio Blasco, Dmitri Gourfinkel, Mona El-Chami, Jean-Philippe Vion and Victor Bonsu. Over the course of 3.5 days, the 40 participants were introduced to the wide range of PEFA products and methodologies, including the PEFA 2016 Framework, the SNG Framework, PEFA Gender, and PEFA Climate. The goal was to enable our PEFA stakeholders—including experts from partner countries, technical and financial partners, think tanks, and others—to effectively fulfill their roles in the PEFA process, whether as national administrations involved in assessments, leading financial partners, assessors, or reviewers.

Interest in PFM and the implementation of good PFM practices keeps growing around the world. In this context, PEFA is very proud to have become a useful framework to which all countries can refer to evaluate the quality of their own PFM architecture and to design appropriate reforms. On the occasion of our 25th anniversary, we would like to extend our warmest thanks to those who joined us in Washington, D.C. in April, as well as to all the PFM experts who’ve helped us stay relevant and improve the way PFM is understood and practiced around the world. Let’s keep exploring together!
