The Swiss State Secretariat for Development and Economic Cooperation (SECO) has been working with a number of Regional Governments in Peru to improve the management of Public Finances, for several years.

Most recently, SECO has supported PEFA assessments in several Regions, and has facilitated the formulation of actions plans, based on the findings of the assessments. The homepage picture shows Monica Rubiolo, (Head of Macroeconomic Support at SECO and a long-standing member of the PEFA Steering Committee) addressing the entire provincial goverment of San Martin as well as representatives from the national Ministry of Finance, and the Supreme Audit Institution.

A similar session had previously been held with the municipal government of Chiclayo. The Peruvian Minister of Finance intends to repeat the national PEFA assessment, probably in 2014, in order to track progress achieved through the various reforms that have been put in place.
